for the birthday giiiiiirrrrrl.

Laaaaawd, please excuse the mess in the background! Totally forgot to edit that, but anyway, tomorrow is my good friend Lish's birthday! What better way to start off your birthday weekend than by getting your hair done? I just curled it with a small curling iron and did some cute bangs. Well let's not make it sound so simple, this is actually the third hairstyle that I did on her. She loved it, I loved it, EVERYBODY HAP-PAY! *Peter Griffin voice* I'm not sure what the weekend holds, but I'm sure there will be some madness! XOXO

my very first bob

I did my friend Netta's hair for Homecoming this past Saturday. I just did a quick-weave, which is bonded (glued in) tracks then styled to the customer's liking. The hair was all 8-inches originally, and for the first time ever, I cut it up and styled it into a feathered bob.

I cut and styled it alot more after these pictures, but this is what you get when you're nervous and you feel like you have to rush. In the end, she loved it so that's what matters. :)

misikko.com products

Alright, it's about time that I do this post for two products I received from John @ Misikko.com. First off, Misikko is a lovely, family-owned hair care site. They specialize in flat irons, but are not limited to just those styling tools. They also sell hair dryers, curling irons, makeup and skincare products, and of course hair care products. John emailed me about a month ago and asked if I would like to receive two products to do a review on. Of course I said yes, are you kidding me?

PURCHASE HERE ---> HANA SHINE SHIELD

[From Misikko.com]

"Hana Shine Shield is the latest product in a line committed to safe, effective heat styling. Shine Shield is a thermal serum that can be used as a leave-in conditioner - lightweight and never greasy, it protects and strengthens hair whether you use it with a flat iron, hair dryer or alone. Shine Shield contains the natural magic of Jojoba oil for its superb qualities of deep moisturization, fast absorption into hair follicles and scalp, and unparalleled shimmer & shine. 6 oz."

PROS:
* Smells great
* Not thick/goopy
* Dries quickly, no greasy feeling
* Perfect styling aid
* Good size bottle, lasts awhile

CONS:
* A bit pricey, IMO

OVERALL:
* This is one of the top selling hair care products, and I do understand why. My hair is pretty thick and this product worked very well by itself and with others when it came to straightening my hair. It gives a silky, smooth, shiny finish to my hair and leaves it feeling nice and soft. I like how no matter how much product I use, it never feels greasy and yucky. I use it prior to all heat styling and for smoothing down those annoying fly-aways. I use a Sephora flat-iron which heats up to 410 degrees. Irons that heat up to 425-500 degrees could really get some great use out of this product.

RATING:
5/5

PURCHASE HERE ---> CHI SILK INFUSION

[From Misikko.com]

"CHI Silk Infusion™ - Reconstructing Complex is specially formulated for thermal styling and hair repair. CHI Silk Infusion contains no alcohol, so it won't dry your hair out as a leave in treatment - and it'll leave your hair with the head-turning, lustrous shine of pure silk."

PROS:
* Smells nice
* Lasts awhile, a little goes a long way
* Works well for curling irons

CONS:
* Doesn't live up to its reputation IMO
* Doesn't work well with flat irons

OVERALL:
* I honestly think that this product is beyond overrated. It wasn't very thick, but it felt gunky when I applied to my hair, even in small amounts. I used it on my cousin's as well and it made her hair feel somewhat "dirty" while styling. However, I heat my curling iron up to 500 degrees for tight waves and it worked well for that. But for my flat iron, I could pass on using it again. I found it to be very messy as well. I didn't realize I had knocked it over with the top open, and it took me forever to clean up the yellow stain off my bathroom floor.

* RATING:
2/5

Have you tried either of these products? What do you think of them?

mahogany queen's honey coconut shea

This product was actually sent to me from one of my followers (Ms. Ashley) a loooong time ago. The day I left to go on vacation actually, so it's pretty overdue. Sooooo, here's the "What It Does" review that was sent w/ the product:
Mahogany Queen's Honey Coconut Shea
is a cream made specifically to moisturize natural hair before & during styling. Also pairs nicely w/ gels to help lock in moisture. Apply liberally to wet air after a shampoo or co-wash. This cream can also be used on your skin. A little bit can really go a long way.

Ingredients:

* Shea
* Coconut Oil
* Coconut Cream
* Honey
* Avocado Oil
* Almond Oil
* Jojoba Oil
* Apricot Kernel Oil
* Extra Virgin Olive Oil
* Essential Oil Fragrance

Here's MY Review:
I liked this product for the simple fact that it did moisturize my hair for quite some time & even protected it from heat styling tools. I use my flat iron every day so I definitely need heat protection. It also leaves hair feeling soft & very shiny. Honestly, my only complaint so far is that I'm not too sure about the smell of this product. It smells like honey & lemons at first, which isn't too bad. Then after I used my flat iron, I began to smell this funky scent of old french fries. Don't be too discouraged, because neither scent lasted very long. Maybe it's just me *shrugs*

THE CONTAINER MAKES ME SO HAPPY. I'M GONNA KEEP IT FOREVER & EVER :)

Score:
3/5
Keep in mind that I haven't used this on wet hair, gel, or my skin yet. So it's still a great score!

BIG THANK YOU & WAY TO GO TO MAHOGANY-QUEEN.COM!

my first quickweave

My cousin was going to her friend's birthday party at a local nightclub, and at the last minute her hair-person skipped out on her. Who did she call? "RAEEEVEEENN TO THE RESCUEEE! DUN DUN NUH NUH!" Okay I'm having too much fun here. She got herself some layered tracks, I believe 8, 10, and 12 inches. From the pictures, I think the back ended up looking pretty mullet-like in the picture, but in reality, everyone was happy with the results. Thank GOD lol. I wish she would of chilled out and let me blend it in more, as well as bump it and take better pictures. Nerd.

Don't you just love the stupid face? :)

PROM HAIR + MAKEUP

BEFORE:

AFTER:

This has been my FAVORITE makeover by far! She was so happy & ready to go to prom after getting her hair & makeup done!

my first sew-in

This is my very FIRST sew-in creation! I didn't braid it, just sewed the hair in. I think I could've done a better job towards the top, but she LOVED it, as it gave her tons of volume & could be worked with. I also trimmed her bangs & shaped them up a tiny bit.
